SHOULD WE BE WORRIED ABOUT THE MIDDLE EAST?

REMEMBER THE GENESIS SONG, “LAND OF CONFUSION”?

It was covered by Disturbed a few years back.  It is quite a treat if you like “heavy-duty” hard rock (and when I’m in the mood I do. Sorry, its a guilty pleasure).  Their music video on YouTube illustrates the chaos of war, riots, and “setting things right” in a revolutionary sense. If you got four and a half minutes and like aggressive rock, this is YOUR ticket. (Click on the picture)

When the original song was performed (written by Phil Collins and Genesis in 1986 as I recall), it sought to target the warmongering of England and the United States.  It called out our nations to become “nations worth fighting for.” While the ORIGINAL values of the U.S. are laudable, it remains debatable whether our foreign policy is worthy of sacrificing our sons and daughters.

Phil Collins and Genesis – LAND OF CONFUSION

But when it comes to a land of confusion, Syria is the most confusing situation we can imagine.  With Russia, the U.S., the Turks, the Kurds, ISIS, and Bashar al-Assad’s army picking sides and fighting against seemingly random opponents, what can we make of it?  And then, the real risk is the likely outcome that Israel and Iran will go to war in the Syrian theater.  The only question is whether Iran will square off against Israel directly or it will just supply Hezbollah with more arms, money, supplies, and sophisticated missile weaponry.  Will this be another “proxy war” or a fight where the primary antagonists go toe-to-toe in a fight to the death?

On Saturday night, February 24th, I spent about 150 minutes with John B. Wells (one of the best interviewers and definitely the best voice on the radio) discussing geopolitics, the risk of war in the Middle East, the state of Russia’s and America’s military, as well as the relevance of Bible prophecy to what is happening in current events.  It was a pretty serious talk although we did insert a bit of humor here and there. John’s weekend show is ARK MIDNIGHT.

As I said, the original show was about 150 minutes.  I asked friend John Mark to compress the material from the interview (without the commercials, the Lou Dobbs report, the Cal Thomas commentary, and other off-subject episodic material).  He did.  We wound up with a 56-minute audio file that moves rapidly through the subjects while addressing the challenging events that threaten war in the weeks ahead.  I had researched quite a number of articles to prep for the show and I was able to work this information into the discussion.  So you should find it worth your time to, say, sit down, put your feet up, and give it a listen.

Here is the audio file… it’s an MP3 file, so you shouldn’t have any trouble cranking it up.  Please share the show (this post) with others who you think might fight the information interesting and a great way to catch up with current events that are shaping our world.  CLICK ON THE PLAY BUTTON ON THE SUPPLIED MEDIA PLAYER HERE…

Oh, and if you’d like to wake yourself up before you take a listen to the discussion between Mr. Wells and me, click on the video from Disturbed I included in this post above.  While some of you might be offended at their style of music, the message isn’t offensive at all:  We should strive to be a nation worth fighting for.  Enjoy both!
